Under the direction of Winterthur's Textile Conservator, Laura Mina, I participated in the University of Delaware's Textile Conservation Internship class in the spring of 2018. During this internship, each student was responsible for the treatment of a child's white dress from the late 19th to early 20th centuries. This project included the mechanical and wet cleaning of the dresses, as well as the preparation of a condition and treatment report documenting our work, and the creation of archival padded hangers for the preservation of the dresses.

Some of my projects included:

  • Attending lectures on textile history, manufacture, conservation, exhibition & display, and more.

  • Designed and completed a wet cleaning treatment of a child's white early 20th-century dress.

  • Prepared a condition and treatment report.

  • Created a padded-board mount for a sewing sampler.

  • Made an archival padded hanger.

  • Generated an annotated bibliography on the field of textile conservation.
